Strategic Skills for Success: An ARL-ACRL Institute on Scholarly Communication Workshop, April 2013

The Institute on Scholarly Communication (ISC), a coordinated effort by the Association of Research Libraries (ARL) and the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL), is hosting a workshop, “Increasing the Effectiveness of Your Scholarly Communication Program: Strategic Skills for Success,” April 9—10, 2013, in Indianapolis, Indiana. In the tradition of other ISC events, this workshop will emphasize active learning and hands-on work by participants, both individually and in groups. Throughout the workshop, participants will have structured opportunities to reflect on how to apply what they are learning to strategic planning within their own institution, to share information and test ideas with other workshop participants, and to begin developing skills to influence campus colleagues.
The workshop is appropriate for librarians responsible for developing and implementing scholarly communication programs at their institutions. We encourage teams from the same institution to attend together, and participants should already possess a working knowledge of scholarly communication issues. Your library should already have a scholarly communication program, and you can articulate its goals.  Registration for the ARL-ACRL Institute on Scholarly Communication workshop is open now and will close on January 31, 2012, unless the workshop fills earlier. Registration is coordinated by ARL and a separate process from registration for the ACRL 2013 Conference or its pre-conferences.
