Library Copyright Alliance Voices Concern about SOPA to US House

On November 8, 2011, ACRL joined the American Library Association and Association of Research Librarians, as the Library Copyright Alliance (LCA), to send a letter to members of the US House Judiciary Committee. The letter outlined LCA’s concerns with the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). It focused on section 201, specifically the definition of willfulness in section 201(c) and the expansion of criminal penalties to public performances in section 201(a), which together could threaten important library and educational activities.
