Today’s shifting academic information landscape provides many challenges and opportunities for librarians to become change agents for campus-wide initiatives and competencies. As we educate and inspire diverse communities of scholars, librarians are encouraged to seek and explore collaborative opportunities that arise at the intersections of scholarly communication and information literacy.

This interactive workshop will empower participants to leverage the intersections in order to develop education and outreach initiatives that address the aspirations and needs of scholars, students, and researchers at their institutions. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to network and build communities of practice focusing on the following themes:

  • The Intersections of Scholarly Communication and Information Literacy
  • Institutional Priorities and Alignment
  • The Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education as a tool for creating learning experiences at the intersections
  • Connecting with partners in the library and in the greater campus community

Presenters

  • Maryam Fakouri, Scholarly Publishing Outreach Librarian, University of Washington-Seattle
  • John Watts, Head of Knowledge Production, University of Nevada-Las Vegas

Complete workshop details and registration materials are available online. Contact Margot Conahan at mconahan@ala.org with questions.
