Member of the Week: Brian E. C. Schottlaender

Brian SchottlaenderBrian E. C. Schottlaender is Audrey Geisel University Librarian at the University of California – San Diego. Brian has been an ACRL member since 1995, is the winner of the 2015 Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award, and is your ACRL member of the week for October 26, 2015.

1. Describe yourself in three words: Decisive, Compassionate, Energetic.

2. What are you reading (or listening to on your mobile device? Captain Beefheart: The Biography by Mike Barnes.

3. Describe ACRL in three words: Community, Collegial, Partner.

4. What do you value about ACRL? ACRL’s combination of point-of-need service readiness with strategic thinking about the profession.

5. What do you, as an academic librarian, contribute to your campus? I collaborate with academic and administrative colleagues to help the campus achieve its educational, research, and service goals.

6. In your own words: Academic research librarians are and need to be in a constant state of reinvention, innovating forward as the worlds they are part of evolve and grow.
