As Chair of the University Libraries Section for 2022-2023, I would like to extend my welcome to all ULS members, and my gratitude to ULS chairs, convenors, and committee members for their work this year. I have been a member of ULS since 2007 and very much value the community and collegiality it has given me.
The ULS Executive Committee met at the end of August and has agreed to support an ALA Emerging Leader and to donate remaining funds from the previous fiscal year to the ACRL scholarship fund. Combined with the previous year’s donation, ULS will be funding six scholarships to attend ACRL 2023.
Many committees are just beginning their work, but the Nominating Committee has already submitted candidates for ULS offices and the Conference Program Planning Committee has submitted a program proposal for the 2023 ALA Annual. The Procedures Committee is working on clarifying documentation across ULS platforms. The Professional Development committee will be hosting an online program on digital humanities in November. There will be more online programs and discussions this year, so stay tuned! We will post the information here, on Facebook and Twitter, and on ALA Connect.
Please feel free to reach out to me directly if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback about ULS. I look forward to working with all of you this year.
