ULS Program at ALA 2010 Annual: Demonstrating Excellence in Higher Education
Don’t miss this opportunity to hear from national and international leaders of assessment in higher education!
ACRL University Libraries Section presents its ALA Annual Conference program:
Demonstrating Excellence in Higher Education:
What Universities are Doing. What Libraries are Doing.
Saturday, June 26, 2010
1:30 – 3:30 pm
Washington Convention Center 140A/B
In the competitive environment for reputation and resources in higher education there is growing pressure for robust and comparable library measures that are meaningful in terms of institutional objectives. Current leaders in establishing such metrics lie outside the United States. But some US-based initiatives are emerging that relate to the impact of the library on student learning and faculty research. A panel will examine measuring value and impact in work relevant to academic libraries.
* Patricia Brennan from Thomson Reuters will speak about institutional data internationally.
* Dr. Alexander McCormick, Associate Professor and Director of National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE), will address the student success/learning experience in US institutions as revealed in NSSE survey results.
* Stephen Town , Director of Information and University Librarian at the University of York (UK), will speak about the UK and European experience in assessing academic libraries and their contribution to meeting institutional goals.
If assessment and demonstrating value are buzz words at your institution, this is the program for you!
Attendees will be provided with a link to a Bibliography of works on these issues.
Program co-sponsored by Thomson Reuters.
