Leadership opportunities in ULS

The ULS 2023 Nominating Committee is seeking names of interested individuals for nomination to be on the ballot for our three elected officer positions.

These are:

Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect – 3 years (Vice-Chair/Chair/Past-Chair)

Secretary – 2 years

Previous committee or leadership experience in the Section has been one path for individuals to prepare for roles on the Executive Committee, but we welcome nominations of candidates who have shown leadership potential at their institutions, in other professional organizations, or through other collaborations.

For this election cycle and moving forward, attending the ALA Annual Conference is no longer a requirement to be on the ballot or to hold office.

General Timeline
• July 14, 2022: General nomination period closes at 9:00 pm Eastern
• July 15, 2022: Committee compiles a tentative list of names
• July 16 – September 9, 2022: The committee identifies and reaches out to individuals to verify interest
• September 10, 2022: Committee sends final list of nominated candidates to ACRL
• September 2022 – February 2023: ACRL works with candidates to gather needed paperwork such as a bio and interest statement.
• Mid-March 2023: Voting opens
• Mid-April 2023: Results are announced
