Building a Community to Foster Your Professional Growth [video replay]
On March 25, 2021 the ACRL University Library Section Professional Development Committee sponsored a program on how solo and small organization librarians can build a community to foster professional growth. During the session:
- Zary Kamarei discussed ways in which librarians can connect with colleagues in the same geographic region to support professional growth.
- Kate Silton discussed strategies for building communities of practice beyond those created by professional organizations.
- Erin Richter-Weikum used her experience in research libraries to discuss opportunities for non-academic librarians and libraries.
- Karen Sobel discussed strategies for seeking and building mentoring relationships in order to develop as a professional and ultimately “move to the next level.”
The presentation slides are available for download.
The session was moderated by Laura Gariepy and Mou Chakraborty of the Professional Development Committee. For a list of future and past programs, visit the Committee’s Programs Page.
