Beyond Library Diversity Residencies: Strategies to Recruit, Retain, and Promote Librarians of Color [video replay]
In this video replay, a panel of current resident librarians will provide an overview of these diversity programs and center their experiences of these programs to suggest further avenues of exploration that build on existing structures and rethink the ways that we can build meaningful support for librarians of color.
The presenters will share aspects of their respective programs that may have wider applications across librarianship and may serve as a starting point for increasing retention of underrepresented groups within librarianship. This program will be of interest to those who currently offer or are thinking of offering diversity scholarships, internships, and residencies or looking for alternative ways to support librarians of color.
Presenters:
- Jessica Dai, West Virginia University
- Grace Adeneye, University of Delaware
- Jesus Espinoza, University of Michigan
The session was moderated by Sam Harlow and Rebecca Graff of the ULS Professional Development Committee. For a list of future and past programs, visit the Committee’s Programs Page.
