Hit the Bull’s-Eye: Using Assessment to Ensure Outreach is on Target
Determining in advance what impact we want to make dictates what types of events we hold and better assessment leads to a better understanding of the impact of our activities. In this session, we will use an example of a data management workshop to discuss goal-driven outreach. We will highlight different assessment strategies and discuss how to use a variety of methods to evaluate if your outreach goals are being met.
Presenter: Adam Beauchamp, Humanities Librarian, Florida State University Libraries
Debrief from a Once and Future Assessment Librarian
Join Adam Beauchamp for a discussion about evidence-based practice in our organizational contexts. Drawing from his experiences before, during, and after a year in the role of Assessment & User Experience Librarian, Adam will share how evidence-based practice became a part of his professional practice through his instruction and liaison roles, how he learned the research methods that helped him achieve a formal position in assessment, and how that experience working in assessment both fostered a broader view of library practice and revealed the importance of team-building and organizational culture for assessment work in libraries. Adam will share lessons learned from assessment projects in a variety of institutional contexts that he hopes will reveal opportunities for evidence-based practice no matter where one falls on the organizational chart.
