Member of the Week: Beverley A. Wood

Beverley A. WoodBeverley A. Wood  is Head Librarian – Cataloguing at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Main Library in Cave Hill, Barbados. Beverley has been an ACRL member since 2006 and is your ACRL member of the week for July 8, 2013.

1. Describe yourself in three words:  Passionate, Committed, Curious.

2. What are you reading right now (or listening to on your mobile device)? Reading Write It Down, Make It Happen by Henriette Anne Klauser.  Listening to Oleta Adams and Dan Fogelberg in rotation.

3. Describe ACRL in three words:  Relevant, Informative, Community-oriented.

4. What do you value about ACRL? I value ACRL for its commitment to providing librarians with opportunities for continuing education and profession development. I value ACRL for the many networking and community-building activities.  I value ACRL for its great publications.

5. What do you, as an academic librarian, contribute to your campus? Mine is an integral partnership providing access to information that is relevant, timely, and of quality. I work with the rest of the university community to educate students and build staff members who are leaders (intellectual, political, social, and cultural) in the Caribbean and beyond.

6. In your own words: Life as an academic librarian is rewarding especially so knowing that one has contributed to a patron’s success or he/she meeting some goal. Life as an academic librarian is exciting. It offers an intellectual and challenging environment for personal growth and development.
