It is with much sadness that we share the news of C&RL Editor Joseph Branin’s untimely death. Joe made many significant contributions to the profession, most recently for ACRL as editor of our research journal, College & Research Libraries. He continued the efforts of his predecessors to seek a way to make C&RL an open access journal and it was during his tenure that the ACRL Board of Directors committed to moving C&RL to this model. C&RL thrived under his leadership and his contributions to the research base will enhance the profession for years to come. We are very grateful that Joe shared his time and talents with ACRL in this role.
Joe served as Director of the University Library at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia beginning in 2009. He previously served as Director of Libraries at Ohio State University and Director of Libraries at the State University of New York – Stony Brook. He also held positions at the University of Minnesota, University of Georgia, and Kent State University.
Editor-designate Scott Walter, University Librarian at DePaul University, will assume the C&RL editor’s role and responsibilities effective immediately. All questions/correspondence about the journal should be sent to Scott at email@example.com.
