ACRL is pleased to announce the selection of three new designer/facilitators for the program “Assessment in Action: Academic Libraries and Student Success” (AiA), made possible by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. They are:

  • April Cunningham, Library Instruction Coordinator at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo, CA
  • Carrie Donovan, Head of Teaching & Learning for the Indiana University Libraries in Bloomington, IN
  • Libby Miles, Associate Professor of Writing & Rhetoric in the Harrington School of Communication and Media at the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI

“We are pleased to have April, Carrie and Libby join the team as they each bring valuable talents and experience that will ensure the design of a curriculum that engages a robust learning community,” said Mary Ellen K. Davis, ACRL executive director. “ACRL is well poised to support librarians in leading campus teams as they develop a variety of approaches to assess library impact on student learning and success.”

Over the course of the AiA program, librarians will each lead a campus team in developing and implementing an action learning project which examines the impact of the library on student learning and success and contributes to assessment activities on campus. ACRL will be seeking applications for 75 teams from all types of postsecondary institutions to participate in the first cohort of the AiA program. Each prospective institution must identify a team consisting of a librarian and at least two additional team members as determined by the campus (e.g., faculty member, student affairs representative, institutional researcher, or academic administrator).

Full details about applying to participate in the first cohort will be available on January 15, 2013, andĀ applications will be due in early March. Find out more about AiA on the program homepage.
