2012 Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award

Nominations are open through September 12, 2012,  for the Carnegie Corporation of New York/New York Times I Love My Librarian Award.  Ten librarians in college, community college, university, school, and public libraries will receive $5,000 and be honored at an award ceremony in New York in December.

The award encourages library users – professors, administrators, students – to submit nominations about how their librarian makes a difference on campus or in the community.

Previous nominators have said of their academic librarians:

  • “One of the most valuable resources on campus.”
  • “Fearless, creative, eclectic, understated, intelligent, enthusiastic, fresh and committed to the success of the students.”
  • “Worth the price of our tuition dollars all by herself.”

Dr. Rhonda Allison Rios Kravitz of Sacramento City College, winner of the 2011 I Love My Librarian Award, shares what receiving the award meant to her in this video interview.

Nomination forms and more information are available on the @ Your Library website.
