For one year only, Library Advocacy Day will replace National Library Legislative Day. On Tuesday, June 29, 2010, in conjunction with the ALA Annual Conference, library advocates from all 50 states and Washington, D.C. will meet at Upper Senate Park on the U.S. Capitol grounds. The event, which will begin at 11 a.m., will feature guest speakers, photo ops, and a chance to cheer on libraries! After the rally, participants will meet with their elected officials and their staffs. Find out more and sign up to attend.
Not sure participating is right for you? First time attendees to National Library Legislative Day (NLLD) in May 2009 said:
- “What a great experience NNLD was. I cannot believe I never made a commitment to attend before… Thanks again, and I look forward to continuing on “this roll” and am in the process of scheduling a meeting with my district congressman for when he is home.”
- “It was a great experience - I enjoyed it so much, and felt that we really did have good discussions and make a good impression. Learned a lot! I will be even better next year!”
- “NLLD was so wonderful and really got me energized. The whole thing was very, very good. I wish I could have brought my staff along. Advocating on legislation is a little odd for all of us and outside our usual work, but so very important.”
